When it comes to the abundant scope and breadth of the Anthropocene and its concerns, one can ask: what are the limits of observation, accuracy, measurement, and calculation? What are the limits of descriptive accounts and written representations? How can one deal with uncertainty, ignorance, or risk? Is there legitimacy for tentative knowledge amongst these different strands of critical inquiry? This dialogue set out to reconcile a quantitative understanding that focuses on the principal limits of knowledge with the epistemological insights onto the social conditions for knowledge production.
