Nice to meet you – cultural collisions in 100 sec
In the European Year of Intercultural Dialogue in 2008, radiomultikulti (Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg), the House of World Cultures and the rbb television station are staging a multimedia competition.
‘Nice to meet you’ is looking for creative ideas that outline, characterise and even satirise daily multicultural life.
Whatever medium you choose – (o-tone) collages, sound or video recordings of stories, comedies, short crime stories or music clips – all genres are allowed, as long as they do not exceed one hundred seconds.
Entries can be submitted by uploading them or sending them in by post: all modern recording techniques and data carriers can be used, as well as the standard data formats, e.g.: mpg, mp3, mp4, mov and Windows Media Player formats.
‘Nice to meet you – cultural collisions in 100 sec.’ is making a creative contribution to the theme of intercultural dialogue, which may be a part of everyday life in Berlin, but is by no means lived out here as a matter or course.
What does intercultural dialogue mean exactly? Is it merely a well-meant but antiquated code that obscures reality, or is it something that really can be filled with life? What is cultural identity in a mobile, globalised society? Berlin, in particular, is linked with a great variety of places, languages, histories and patterns of perception in many ways – and all these different aspects point beyond a merely territorial identity. With the competition and the accompanying range of programmes supplied by radiomultikulti, we hope to find answers to these questions and to stimulate discussion.
A jury consisting of prominent figures will select the most interesting, moving, exciting or funniest 100-sec film or soundtrack. The prizes will be ceremonially presented at the House of World Cultures on 11 November 2008.
Entries may be submitted from 30 April to 30 September 2008.
