A film inspired by Samba and photos by Verger, to the music of Carlinhos Brown: A gang of street children in the Salvador da Bahia of the 1950s. They steal, gamble and dance – and dream of love and a better life. Suddenly, their closely-knit community is confronted with a deadly illness. And when a girl joins the gang, their world is thrown into chaos. A skillful adaptation of the novel by Jorge Amado, the grand master of Brazilian literature, directed by his grand-daughter.
